It is hard believe that 2 kids of age 10 and 12 years developed Mobile Phone application. But two brothers from Chennai made it possible and their applications got thousands of downloads. Sanjay and Shravan Kumaran aged 10 and 12 respectively have their own company namely Go Dimension. At the age of 10 Sanjay is the CEO and at the age of 12 Shravan is the president of the company. They are the youngest CEO and President of a company in India. Most probably there are no such cases of younger CEO and President in the world. Launched in December last the company already made a mark. The application launched by the company called “Catch Me Cop” which is displayed on the Apple’s application store. It drew the attention of cnet.com which is a popular website amongst the net surfers. The father of the duo Mr. Kumaran Surendran, 45 is also a Director of an IT Firm. He must be a proud man to be father of Sanjay and Shravan. Both the brothers are now studying in a Chennai School Sanjay studies in Class VI and Shravan in Class VIII. The duo has more applications on Apple's App Store - Alphabet Board (March 12, 2012), Prayer Planet (June 10, 2012) and Colour Palette (July 12, 2012). All of them have been downloaded over 10,000 times the world over. Not content with their success, the brothers are currently engaged in an application with an Olympics touch that would arouse interest across the world.

Remembering RD Burman on his is the 73rd Birth Anniversary

Rahul Dev Burman popularly known as RD Burman was born on June 27, 1939. His nick name was “Pancham” and his close friends and admirer used to call him PanchamDa. He was the only son of noted music composer Sachin Dev Burman and lyricist Meera Dev Burman. He nicknamed Pancham, because, in his childhood, his cries sounded similar to the fifth note `Pa` of the Indian musical scale.

Burman received his early education at the St Xavier’s School in Kolkata. At the age of nine RD composed his first song “Aye meri topi palat kea a”, which his father used in the film Funtoosh (1956). He also composed the song “Sar jot era chakraaye” as a child and his SD Burman included it in the soundtrack of Guru Dutt’s Pyasa in 1957.

Pancham Da was trained by Ustad Ali Akbar Khan (sarod) and Samta Prasad (tabla). He also considered Salil Chowdhury as his guru. He served as an assistant to his father and often played harmonica in his orchestras.

Some of the notable movies in which Pancham Da was credited as the music assistant include Chalti Ka Naam Gadi (1958), Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959), Tere Ghar ke Samne (1963), Bandini (1963), Guide (1965) and Teen Devian (1965).
Burman also earned applauds for playing mouth organ for his father’s hit composition “Hai Apna Dil To Awara” featured in the movie Solva Saal in 1958.

In 1959, Burman signed up as a music director for the film Raaz and recorded two songs but the film never completed. His first released film as an independent music director was Chote Nawab in 1961, produced by noted comedian Mehmood, who approached SD Burman for the music.

As a music director, Burman’s first hit was Teesri Manzil in 1966, produced and written by Nasir Hussain. Pancham Da was then signed by Hussain for Bahron Ke Sapne (1967), Pyar Ka Mausam (1969) and Yaadon Ki Baarat (1973).

Burman’s score for Padosan was appreciated by the music lovers. Meanwhile, he continued to work as his father’s assistant for movies like Jewel Thief and Prem Pujari.

The superhit Kishore Kumar song “Mere Sapnon Ki Raani” from Aradhana (1969), though credited to his father, is rumoured to have been RD Burman's composition. “Kora Kagaz tha Yeh Man Mera” from the same film was also his tune. It is believed that when SD Burman fell ill during the recording of the film's music, RD Burman took over and completed the music. He was credited as an associate composer for the film.

RD became popular in 1970 with Kishore Kumar songs in Kati Patang. Its songs “Yeh Shaam Mastani” and “Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai”, sung by Kishore Kumar, became instant hits.

Burman’s other hits songs are “Dum Maro Dum”, “Raat Kali Ek Khwab Mein”, and “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja from Caravan. He also received his first Filmfare Award nomination for this song.
RD composed the music for the song “Raina Beeti Jaaye” which is regarded as a classical music gem in Bollywood.

R D Burman composed hit music for several films including Seeta aur Geeta, Rampur ka Lakshman, Mere jeevan saathi, Bombay to Goa, Apna Desh and Parichay. His success continued with hits such as Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), Aap ki Kasam (1974), Sholay (1975) and Aandhi (1975).

After his father SD Burman went into coma, R D Burman also completed the music of Mili (1975).

Burman gave melodious music in the movie like Hum Kisise Kum Nahin, Ghar, Gol Maal, Khubsoorat. He received his first Filmfare Best Music Director Award for Sanam Teri Kasam in 1981. In the same year he composed hit tracks for Rocky, Satte Pe Satta and Love Story.

Legendary singer Asha Bhosle is the second wife of RD Burman. The two got married in 1980 after Pancham Da separated with his first wife Rita Patel.

Both Burman and Asha recorded hit songs and also staged many live performances.

Awards of R D Burman
He won 3 Filmfare Best Music Director Awards in his lifetime for, Sanam Teri Kasam (1982), Masoom (1983) and 1942: A Love Story (1994)

Some of the landmark works by RD Burman include the following films:-

Why the bowling of Sunil Narine still remains a mystery?

When Sunil Narine a slow right arm off break bowler from the Caribbean was recruited by the KKR this year with a huge amount of money then everybody got strange. There are many spinner in the subcontinent then why a spinner from the Caribbean. But, from the outset the mystery bowler has been outstanding and because of his magical spells the Kolkata Knight Riders have reached the final of IPL edition 5. Though the batsman like Gambhir & Kallis played outstandingly, but the role of Sunil Narine was excellent in all matches. He took wickets with great economy rate. Most of the batsman not able to read him and in demand of scoring runs they gave their wickets to Sunil Narine. Still Narine is the highest wicket taker in the competition with another match to go.

Sunil Narine has not played Test Matches yet. He only played 8 ODI matches for West Indies and got 14 wickets in his belt with an economy rate of 3.79 and his best bowling in ODIs so far is 4/27.

But why the bowling of Sunil Narine still remains a mystery for the entire batsman played IPL this year. His bowl is bouncing, getting turns, squaring up batsman in all kind of tracks. But the other off break bowlers gone for plenty of runs. Now it is to watch that how long Narine can carry his mystery bowling without get revealed. Ajantha Mendis of Sri Lanka was a mystery for the batsmen during his arrival in international arena but afterwards his bowling got punished.

The form of Sunil Narine will be a factor in the Final Match of IPL 2012 as his bowling will decide the winner and runners up of IPL 2012.

Shree Sen talks exclusively to SocioTime about his passion

The name is ShreeSen aka Shree Ujjwal (pronounced as Uj’Jol) Sen. He is from North Eastern region of India. He has been working for promotion of Rap and Hip Hip kind of music over a period of time. Some of his track already released with mixed response. A track “Shotto” from Album “Corrupted Somaj” was made available to SocioTime which is one of the best tracks of ShreeSen. Although he has got tremendous potential he has not got the success at his desired level due to lack of support and proper platform. SocioTime had got the opportunity to talk to him over skype and he talks exclusively to SocioTime about his passion and also about his future projects. SocioTime is taking the opportunity to promote the talent and spread his music amongst the audience.

Here is the interview that ShreeSen has given to SocioTime:

SocioTime : How would you describe your music/art/entertainment for the public audience if they have never seen you before?

ShreeSen: I speak about the burning issues of present world from my point of view. I talk about Injustice, corruption, politics, caste problem, fundamentalism, environmental issues and hate, but at the same time I also share my opinion that can help us to overcome this though love, unity and peace.

SocioTime : As a child growing up, music surrounds us; what type of music did you hear the most back then? How does is differ from what you listen to now?

ShreeSen: Being a member of a musical family, music was never an alien to me. From my childhood Tagore songs, nozrul songs, Rock’N Roll, Jazz, Rock and ofcourse Pop was all over at home. Heavily influenced by legendary artist like Bob Merely, Paul Robson, Michael Jackson and many more who have fought for a better tomorrow through MUSIC. It’s no more a medium of mere entertainment. Today, there are artist from every part of this world who has begun their journey with MUSIC for a revolution.

SocioTime : What made you first realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?

ShreeSen:The necessity of bringing a change in the sytem, which have been mis-used, mis-guided by various agencies.

SocioTime : How did you become involved in the type of music you play/sing now?

ShreeSen:The birth of RAP Music happened for revolution. I could relate myself with this genre so well that it didn’t take a minute to take the final call.

SocioTime : If you had to describe your music in three or four words, what would you call it?

ShreeSen: The Rebellious Movement

SocioTime : Can you give some details about the group/act/art?

ShreeSen: I, ShreeSen, India's first Bangla RAP artist who took my music to the international market. Debut in the hip-hop world happened in 2004 with 1st single "Respect Yourself (Wake Up), and earned different reviews from musicians from all around the world. This led me being signed to few projects. The journey wasn’t smooth and easy. As a pioneer in Indian Rap scenario it was hard enough to get attention with a musical genre, which deals with a regional language. But with determination, dedication and will power things started showing response from the year 2009. In the year 2010, I focused my career on production and started working on collaboration with other artists, while occasionally contributing vocals to other artists' songs. I’m a one-man army, from writing lyrics to rapping to composing (demos) to working on cover designs (drafts). As a man of principles I always welcome people who have deep respect for music, and also for the human race. An active supporter of green peace movement, I’m a regular member with community services. Have performed in numerous clubs in almost all the most sought out clubs in Bengaluru and other parts of the country. Only Indian Rap artist to be invited in Asia’s biggest Hip Hop show at Bangladesh, Hip Hop Jaati2 to perform. Only Rap artist who received an award from CNN IBN for fighting against corruption through music. Dedicated a single exclusively meant for India Against Corruption movement.

SocioTime : What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

ShreeSen:I believe in reality. No matter how hard or tough it is my main objective always remains the same. I raise my voice whenever there is a call or need for it. In a country like India, we just can’t run out of issues. But I try to send out an awareness message, where people can relate themselves and act accordingly to that. One world, one religion and that’s humanity. Lets fight for a better world TOGETHER.

SocioTime : How long have you been performing live or making art?

ShreeSen: I got myself involved into Rap music from the year 2004. Used to be a part time deejay during 2003-2005. I started performing live as a Rap artist from end of 2005. The journey is still going strong but due to my 2nd studio album, I’ve taken a short break from live performance.

SocioTime : What do you think your “biggest break” or “greatest opportunity” has been so far in your musical career?

ShreeSen:Representing India, and India’s Rap movement to Hip Hop Jaati2. A concert, which was held in Bangladesh last year(June 2011) and the news of it has been covered by all the leading media houses in India and Bangladesh.

SocioTime : Where did you meet your group and how long have you been together now?

ShreeSen:I’m a one-man army.

SocioTime : What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.)

ShreeSen: Currently working on my 2nd mixtape “New Life” scheduled for July 2012 release. Where everyone is going to see a new fresh look my music with lots of love, happiness and fun.

SocioTime : Thinking back to the very beginning of the band, how do your feel about your performance today and it is much different for you now than when you first started performing.

ShreeSen: Everyday I’m hustling…. Things have changed and still changing. I’ve grown up as an artist over the years. I can figure out where I’m going wrong and what all the areas I still need to work out. It’s a never-ending world of learning!

SocioTime : What do you think makes you and your type of music unique from other artists?

ShreeSen:I introduced Bangla Rap in Indian music in 2004. Unfortunately it was ignored till the year 2009!

SocioTime : As an artist, how would you define SUCCESS?

ShreeSen:I don’t dig for success. I consider myself as a social worker and my job is to bring out the best of me and add a value to the society.

SocioTime : If you had to think of a slogan that could leave a positive impact for everyone what would your slogan be?

ShreeSen: WAKE UP

SocioTime : Have you recorded any previous CD’s or posted any audio files on the Internet?

ShreeSen: I’ve got 1 mixtape (Bishakto 2006), 1 studio album (India’s 1st Bangla Rap album Corrupted SomaJ, 2011), numerous online releases.

SocioTime : If you have a current CD released, how long did the process take for you to do from start to finish?

ShreeSen: My 1st studio album took 4 years. Trying to get the 2nd studio album done in a lesser time with 100% better and never heard before materials (I can’t just make myself satisfied easily now a days).

SocioTime : Are there any other “behind the scene” secrets, tips, or additional information you would like to share with our readers?

An Interview with Too Much(2Much) - The Music Group

Too Much is a musical group/band from Bangaluru. They are specialist in Hip Hop music, which is gaining popularity in recent time. SocioTime approached them for an interview over e-mail and the group has answered all questions forwarded by SocioTime. Here is the how they spoken about their music:

Q.How did the artist/band get their name?

A.We got the name “Two Much” from the 1995 “Antonio Banderas” starring movie “Two Much”. Though we’ve come to realize that there are too many bands around the world who share our names. So we plan to change it to “2Much” now.

Q.How would you describe your music/art/entertainment for the public audience if they have never seen you before?

A.First and foremost we are a Hip-Hop band but that’s not all that there is to it. We like to be diversified in our approach to music and we love to experiment with sounds to create something unique. We still pride ourselves of the fact that we can be versatile when it comes to songs. We have done all sorts of tracks from club-bangers to preaching to inspiring. It all comes down to give the public what they want to hear from us but in our own style.

Q.As a child growing up, music surrounds us; what type of music did you hear the most back then? How does is differ from what you listen to now?

A.Well to be frank, we grew up a lot around Bollywood but there has also been a lot of Western music influence. But at some point in our lives, we all tend to get attached to one form of music that appeals to our ears more than the other genres. Our transition to Hip-Hop happened probably 7-8 years from now and it still feels like something we were born to do. But then we also listen to other genres like Rock, Trance, Country so we can learn & implement few of their techniques in our songs.

Q.What made you first realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?

A.Well it started off as a juvenile thought in the beginning but when you are so attached to something then its practically impossible to let it go. So we never let that thought of becoming sucessful musicians go from our minds. At one point in our lives, we came to acknowledge the fact that music is what we are meant to do and nothing else will give us the same level of satisfaction. That day onwards we were professionals and stopped taking music as only a hobby.

Q.How did you become involved in the type of music you play/sing now?

A.We had a lot of influence from people around us and television also proved to be a medium. The movie “8 mile” inspired us greatly, plus Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” was what we would call a Turning point in our lives.

Q.If you had to describe your music in three or four words, what would you call it?

A. Original, Unique and True.

Q.Give some details about the group/act/art?

A. It all began in late 2010, when Rapper BigDeal(Japan/Orissa, India), who was an already established rapper in Bangalore hooked up with upcoming artist MC Zing(Imphal, India) aka "Zingaling” to form the group Two Much. A track done by TWO MUCH is diversified to say the least. Since the styles of BIG DEAL & ZING vary in various ways, the listener gets a taste of "FIRE" & "ICE" in the same song. Hence the personas:-
ZING aka Mr.Ice
BIG DEAL aka Mr.Fire

Q.What are your songs about? (What specific themes do they cover?)

A. Like we have mentioned earlier we like to be as versatile as possible. We’ve had club based self-praise songs like “I Belive I’m Fly”, “Supermen”; inspiring song like “Enlightened”; message spreading song like “All they need is Money”; songs for a cause like “BAN-GALORE”, “Justice”.

Q.How long have you been performing live or making art?

A. We as a crew started performing live since early 2011 but as single artists we’ve been in the live scene for about a span of 3 years. As far making music is concerned, we both started off around the same time i.e. 7 years.

Q.What do you think your “biggest break” or “greatest opportunity” has been so far in your musical career?

A. It certainly would be the opening act for the Canadian-based Indian pop star “RAGHAV”, recently we also had the privilege to share the stage with “Gangis Khan aka Camoflauge”(signed to Wu Tang Clan’s label). We’ve also opened the act for Justin Timberlake’s official DJ “Mark Da Spot”.

Q.Where did you meet your group and how long have you been together now?

A.We met around late 2010 in this club called “Pebble-The Jungle Lounge” and formed our crew around early 2011 so we are little more than a year old now.

Q.What are your immediate music career goals? (Next 1 to 3 years.)

A.First off all we plan to release our debut mixtape titled “Born Two Win” in the coming few months and we also plan to distribute free physical copies of the CD to the public.

Our next step is getting signed to a label, which is already in discussion now. Everything will fall in place in less than 3 months time. Major promotion/marketing will begin there after and more music will be available to our fans.

After getting signed we plan to be releasing our debut album in mid 2013 with some big names on it and the album will be nothing less than historical. We say this with conviction because we’ve certain musical strategies to implement that will catapult us to a newer level.

We have our goals to capture the Indian Market by 2014 and then we move international.

Q.Thinking back to the very beginning of the band, how do your feel about your performance today and it is much different for you now than when you first started performing.

A.We see great improvement. Infact as artists, we grow with every song we make, get better with each live performance or studio recording. One thing we can always be sure of is that we will never stop learning, never stop gaining knowledge or ways that would help in making our music better. Experience is what we have now, something we didnt have in the beginning.

Q.What do you think makes you and your type of music unique from other artists?

A. Our type of music- we call it diversity, versatility, experimenting, and perfecting.

Q.As an artist, how would you define SUCCESS?

A. Sucess will be when people get goosebumps listening to our songs and we begin to influence them. Money doesn’t matter much, its the spirit, the soul in our music. On a second thought, Money does matter but only to the extent of surviving on music as we totally dread doing anything else for a living.

Its hard been a musician in India, hardest been a Rapper!

Q.If you had to think of a slogan that could leave a positive impact for everyone what would your slogan be?

A. Whatever you set your mind to, you CAN do it! So if you really want something bad enough and you are willing to do anything for it then you will get it, even god can’t stop you. Only make sure the thing that you want doesn’t hurt anybody in anyway.

Q.Have you recorded any previous CD’s or posted any audio files on the Internet?

A.Yes we have released a lot of singles online on our ReverbNation page, SounCloud account and as well as in our YouTube page. We’ve got amazing response for our songs as well and we are currently No.1 in the ReverbNation charts for Bangalore and No.20 for India.

Q.If you have a current CD released, how long did the process take for you to do from start to finish?

A.We’ve not released any CD yet but the process is what we are still going through. It has taken us 6 months to record various tracks for our mixtape and it will take us a month more to get our album art/logo/cd cover/cd writing done. Then comes the distribution and marketing part.

Q.Are there any other “behind the scene” secrets, tips, or additional information you would like to share with our readers?

A.Be very wary of the Industry, everybody here is on their own.
