imageIn remote places of North East India, the internet connectivity is a major concern. India is developed country as far as electronic communication system is concerned. India is the second largest country in the world in mobile connectivity. But, the people who are living other than major cities are deprived of getting proper internet connectivity. The mobile service providing companies are spreading their business across North East India are extending data connection along with the rest of the country, but the internet connectivity in this region is very poor. The GPRS connection is very slow and browsing internet is quite difficult using GPRS connection. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is is the largest provider of fixed telephony and fourth largest mobile telephony provider in India, and is also a provider of broadband services. However, in recent years the company's revenue and market share plunged into heavy losses due to intense competition in Indian telecommunications sector. BSNL is India's oldest and largest communication service provider (CSP). It had a customer base of 95 million as of June 2011., which are managed by Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL). BSNL has launched 3G services in North Eastern India and providing high speed data connection through 3G USB Modem. But except some cities in North East the user of 3G USB Modem are experiencing great deal of difficulties in browsing internet. Although the modem has the capacity of 7.2 Mbps, the people are hardly getting the speed of 7.2 Kbps. These days the websites are built with advanced applications and a fair speed is constantly required to browse the sites. Here is an experience of using Micromax 3G USB Data Card with a 3G mobile SIM. After repeated effort the modem was connected to internet but browsing net was not possible because of very poor speed. Even the sped of dial up connection through landline phone connection was better. The screenshot is provided below to describe how horrible to surf the net using BSNL internet connection. “Problem loading page” was the ultimate result after spending a lot of time to connect with internet.
